Consultations are open to researchers at every level. If you're just starting out, I can help you decide where to begin and how to approach your research. If you're further along, I can review what you've found and help you plan what comes next, including a way past the brick wall you've been staring at. Schedule a consultation to get started.

Good research takes time and rigor, and contract research works best when we agree on that at the outset. Whether you need to learn more about a place or get to the bottom of a single record set, I can work as your professional research assistant and deliver sound conclusions built from the best available sources.
If you have a project in mind, send me a brief description of what you're trying to find.

Transcription is the first step to understanding a record in its historical context. I work with 17th- to 19th-century documents that have become hard to read, and with legal records that only make sense once you understand the law of the era they were written in.
If you have a document you can't make out, get in touch.
Careful research.
Documented findings.
The full story.
Genealogical research isn't just locating records. It's understanding what those records meant in their time and place, and how they connect to one another. Every project follows the Genealogical Proof Standard, the field's benchmark for reliable conclusions, so findings are thoroughly sourced, logically reasoned, and clearly written.
I work with individuals and families tracing their lines through the American South and Mid-Atlantic states using a wide range of documentary sources from the 18th to the 21st centuries.
Every engagement begins with a consultation built around two questions: What do you already know? And what do you want to know? We’ll build a tailored research plan designed around your question and identify the records likely to lead to answers. You’ll receive a written report detailing my findings and showing my work.
I follow the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices established by the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the Genealogist’s Code of Ethics established by the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG).
